Just a reminder to set aside, if you can, March 20 for a trip to New York City. The hope is that we will start around 10 a.m. in New York, finishing by the end of the time, so people can return home that evening.
I will be coming from Richmond (where I am interviewing people for an article in Preservation Magazine on the former slave market, Shockoe Bottom — I’ll tell you more about it soon!), so I will meet you in the city. Because people come from a variety of places, I don’t intend to organize transportation, but I am more than happy to figure out carpooling. The cheapest way to go is to drive to New Haven and then take Metro North train into the city (or take the Hudson Line, if you are closer to HSV and Albany). You can also take Amtrak from Springfield.
Please do let me know that you will be coming. Mike Devonshire has planned a series of fantastic site visits to projects he and colleagues in New York are working on.
All the best,
